Maxym Kryshko, the resident representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Bangladesh, reaffirmed the IMF’s commitment to maintaining full cooperation with the country and supporting its economic development.

Maxym Kryshko made the remarks during a courtesy call on the Governor of Bangladesh Bank (BB) Md Mostaqur Rahman at the central bank headquarters in Dhaka on Thursday.

BB Deputy Governor Dr Md Habibur Rahman was also present during the meeting, which highlighted the strong partnership between Bangladesh and the IMF.

During the discussion, Kryshko congratulated the Governor and expressed the IMF’s keen interest in working closely with the new political administration, which was recently formed following a free, fair, and transparent national election.

He stressed that the IMF is committed to providing both technical and financial assistance to support Bangladesh’s macroeconomic stability and implement reforms in the financial sector.

The BB sources said the meeting also focused on ongoing IMF-supported economic programmes, including initiatives aimed at strengthening fiscal management, enhancing financial governance and promoting sustainable economic growth.

Kryshko reiterated that the IMF will continue to assist Bangladesh in addressing emerging economic challenges and navigating a complex global economic environment.

In response, the Governor of Bangladesh Bank thanked the IMF representative for their sustained support and expressed confidence that the ongoing collaboration would help reinforce the country’s financial framework.

He noted that close coordination between the BB and the IMF would play a vital role in promoting stability, transparency, and long-term economic development in Bangladesh.
