Prime Minister Tarique Rahman convened a high-level meeting with leading figures from Bangladesh’s business community on Saturday to deliberate on the current state of the industrial sector and the overall investment climate.

The session, held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon, brought together CEOs, industry representatives and policymakers to discuss key issues affecting industrial growth and economic development.

According to a statement from the BNP media cell, the discussion focused on challenges such as high production costs, energy supply constraints, regulatory hurdles and measures to attract both domestic and foreign investment.

The Prime Minister emphasised the government’s commitment to improving the business environment and fostering sustainable industrial development.

The meeting also marked the formal inauguration of the Private Sector Advisory Council, a newly established platform designed to enhance structured dialogue between the government and business leaders. Through this council, regular consultations are expected on matters ranging from policy formulation and investment incentives to industrial modernisation and technological innovation.

Officials said the council aims to identify practical solutions to overcome obstacles in the industrial sector while promoting investment and economic growth.

The Prime Minister encouraged business leaders to provide constructive input and stressed the importance of public-private cooperation in addressing challenges and creating a more competitive, resilient industrial landscape in Bangladesh.
