The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved five development projects involving a total estimated cost of Tk483.43 crore, marking a significant step in advancing infrastructure and public service initiatives.
Of the total allocation, Tk390.84 crore will come from the government’s own funds, while the remaining Tk92.59 crore will be financed through foreign loans or grants.
The approvals were given at the 9th ECNEC meeting of the 2025-26 fiscal year, which also marked the first meeting under the current government.
The meeting was held at the Cabinet Division conference room in Dhaka on Monday with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in the chair.
Among the key decisions, the General Social Infrastructure Development Project-2 (GSIDP-2), implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), saw its budget revised upward to Tk1,450 crore, with completion now expected by June 2027.
On the other hand, the Char Development and Settlement Project-4 (CDSP-4) experienced a reduction in cost, now estimated at Tk30.71 crore.
Meanwhile, the IT Training and Incubation Centre project received a notable budget increase, bringing its total cost to Tk533.54 crore, with the project timeline extended until June 2026.
The modernisation of diagnostic imaging facilities in eight divisional medical college hospitals also received a substantial boost, with its revised cost rising to Tk1,213.70 crore and completion pushed to June 2028.
Additionally, the Establishment of Gopalganj Dental College and Hospital project (2nd revision) has been allocated an increased budget of Tk139.30 crore, with work expected to be completed by June 2026.
Officials say these projects are expected to strengthen infrastructure, healthcare, and technical capacity, contributing to overall national development.
