Bangladesh and Thailand are set to deepen industrial and commercial collaboration, with Thailand expressing strong interest in exploring investment opportunities in the country’s growing economy.
The discussion took place on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by Thai Ambassador to Bangladesh Thitiporn Chirasawadi to Industries Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir at the Ministry of Industries in Dhaka, according to an official press release.
During the meeting, both sides explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the industrial sector, including expanding investment prospects, facilitating technology transfer to improve productivity in agriculture and fisheries, and strengthening the role of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Minister Muktadir highlighted that Bangladesh offers significant potential for trade and investment growth.
He suggested the possibility of establishing joint ventures in sectors such as food processing, light engineering, and tourism-related industries.
He also noted that the government’s investor-friendly policies and ongoing infrastructure development have created a supportive environment for foreign investment and invited Thai entrepreneurs to seize these opportunities.
Ambassador Thitiporn Chirasawadi praised Bangladesh’s rapid economic growth, emphasising the country’s rising appeal to international investors.
She reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to expanding industrial and commercial partnerships with Bangladesh.
Both parties expressed optimism about future collaboration, including regular business delegations, continuous dialogue, and joint initiatives to strengthen economic ties.
The meeting was attended by Secretary of the Ministry of Industries Md Obaidur Rahman along with senior officials from both the ministry and the Thai embassy.
