Bangladesh and Turkey have taken steps to further strengthen their bilateral trade and investment cooperation following a meeting between Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir and Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Sen at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

During the discussion, both sides emphasised expanding economic relations and exploring new opportunities for collaboration between the two countries.

The commerce minister highlighted the longstanding friendly ties between Bangladesh and Turkey and underscored the scope for deeper engagement in key sectors.

He pointed out potential areas for joint investment, including the ready-made garments (RMG) industry, textiles, agro-based products and light engineering.

The minister also invited Turkish investors to explore opportunities in Bangladesh’s leather and jute sectors, noting the country’s competitive production costs and strong potential for quick returns on investment.

Ambassador Ramis Sen appreciated Bangladesh’s rapid economic progress and praised its skilled workforce, describing both as major factors attracting foreign investors.

He also highlighted the growing popularity of Bangladeshi eco-friendly jute products in the Turkish market.

The ambassador congratulated the commerce minister on his recent appointment following the national election.

Senior officials, including Additional Secretary (Export) Md Abdur Rahim Khan and other ministry representatives, were also present at the meeting.
