Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said the government will provide full budgetary backing for the Family Card programme, describing it as a key social safety initiative of the current administration.
Speaking to reporters after a review meeting on the project at the Ministry of Finance on Monday, he confirmed that adequate allocation will be ensured in the upcoming national budget to maintain and expand the scheme.
He said the government is working to identify and correct initial implementation challenges to make the project more effective and beneficiary-friendly.
“The Family Card project is a flagship initiative, and it will remain a top priority in national planning,” the finance minister said, adding that funding requirements will be fully met.
He further assured that budgetary limitations would not hinder the project’s progress, stressing that necessary resources would be provided to achieve its objectives.
According to him, the initiative is designed to strengthen social safety nets and ensure that support reaches targeted groups without disruption.
The minister also said the government is focusing on improving coordination and system efficiency to reduce errors and enhance service delivery.
He added that ongoing refinements aim to build a more reliable and transparent mechanism for distributing benefits.
Reaffirming the government’s stance, he said the successful implementation of the Family Card programme remains central to efforts aimed at expanding social protection and promoting inclusive development.
