Commerce, Industries, Textiles and Jute Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir on Thursday urged Denmark to scale up its investment in Bangladesh, underscoring the country’s strong potential as an investment destination.
“The government is prioritising infrastructure development, improving logistics efficiency, and enhancing the ease of doing business. These efforts send a positive signal to global investors,” Muktadir said.
The Minister made these remarks during a meeting with Danish Ambassador to Bangladesh Christian Brix Møller at his Secretariat office in the city, a press release stated.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral trade, investment, and broader economic cooperation.
Muktadir highlighted Bangladesh’s sole advantages, including its skilled workforce, large domestic market, and strategic geographic position, which together make it an attractive hub for foreign investors.
He also noted that the steady influx of young workers into the labour market continues to expand the country’s industrial and investment capacity.
He invited Danish businesses to explore opportunities in renewable energy, infrastructure, and industrial sectors, expressing optimism about deepening economic engagement.
In response, Ambassador Møller congratulated the new government and described Bangladesh-Denmark relations as a strong example of evolving from development cooperation to a strategic business partnership.
He acknowledged Denmark’s growing commercial ties with Bangladesh, noting consistent expansion in bilateral trade.
He also expressed interest in expanding cooperation in the livestock and dairy sectors, alongside infrastructure and industrial development.
Møller further reiterated Denmark’s support for Bangladesh’s economic and democratic reform initiatives, saying these would help strengthen bilateral relations.
The meeting was also attended by Commerce Ministry Secretary Md Abdur Rahim Khan and other senior officials leading the organisation.
