Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) sector has strengthened its global standing in sustainable manufacturing with the addition of four newly certified green factories, bringing the total number of LEED-certified units in the country to 284.

Of the total, 121 factories have achieved the highest Platinum rating, while 144 have earned Gold certification. Notably, Bangladesh now hosts 52 factories ranked among the world’s top 100 LEED-certified facilities, underscoring its leadership in environmentally responsible apparel production.

Among the latest entrants, three factories secured Platinum certification. Pahartoli Textiles Limited, Unit-02, located at the Ispahani Complex in North Pahartali, Chattogram, received 86 points. Everbright Sweater Ltd, based in Kathgora, Zirabo in Ashulia, Savar, achieved 83 points, while Siam Computerised Elastic Industries Ltd–MUMTEX in Surabari, Gazipur, earned 84 points.

Meanwhile, Welldone Apparel Ltd, situated in Baraider Chala, Sreepur, Gazipur, was awarded Gold certification with a score of 75 points.

Industry insiders say the steady increase in LEED-certified factories reflects a broader shift within Bangladesh’s RMG sector towards sustainability, energy efficiency, and improved occupational standards. These developments are also seen as a response to growing global demand for environmentally compliant supply chains.

With an expanding portfolio of top-rated green factories, Bangladesh continues to set international benchmarks in sustainable garment manufacturing while reinforcing its competitiveness in the global apparel market.
