A high-level Bangladeshi business delegation is currently participating in the 2026 SelectUSA Investment Summit in Washington, DC, with the aim of expanding investment cooperation and strengthening economic ties between Bangladesh and the United States.

The 25-member delegation is being led by US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T Christensen, according to a statement issued by the US Embassy in Dhaka on Monday. The team consists of prominent business leaders from Bangladesh representing a range of key industries, including energy, technology, agribusiness, engineering and business services.

The summit - began on 3 May and will continue till 6 May in Washington, DC - is considered one of the most important global platforms for attracting foreign direct investment. It brings together international investors and US economic development organizations to explore opportunities for investment, partnership, and job creation across various sectors.

This year’s edition of the summit carries additional significance as it coincides with the 250th anniversary of the United States. The event is also being used to highlight the role of foreign investment in supporting innovation, economic expansion, and long-term growth in the US economy.

Officials said Bangladesh’s participation is expected to help deepen bilateral economic engagement and open new avenues for investment in both directions. The delegation’s presence is also seen as part of broader efforts to enhance trade and business cooperation between the two countries.

The initiative is anticipated to contribute to stronger commercial linkages and increased investor confidence in Bangladesh’s emerging market potential.
