South Korea has expressed strong interest in investing in Bangladesh’s electronics manufacturing and technology sectors, as both countries explored opportunities to strengthen economic and development cooperation.
The interest was conveyed by South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Ji-joon Kim during a courtesy meeting with the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Wednesday, according to a press release.
During the discussion, the ambassador praised Bangladesh’s rapid economic progress and its increasingly investment-friendly environment. He specifically highlighted South Korea’s willingness to expand its presence in Bangladesh’s electronics manufacturing, technology, renewable energy, information technology, and broader industrial sectors.
Both sides held detailed discussions on enhancing bilateral cooperation in key areas, including trade, investment, industrial development, infrastructure, technology transfer, skills development and human resource training.
Humaiun Kobir welcomed South Korea’s growing interest and described the partnership between the two countries as expanding steadily. He stressed the importance of increasing trade flows, attracting foreign investment, and deepening industrial collaboration to support Bangladesh’s development goals.
He also assured full government support in facilitating South Korean investment and encouraged greater engagement in emerging sectors such as electronics and technology-driven industries.
The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening ties and maintaining close cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
They also expressed optimism that Bangladesh–South Korea relations would continue to grow and reach new heights in the coming years, particularly through expanded economic and technological partnerships.
