The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) has approved three procurement proposals from the Ministry of Industries involving the import of fertilisers and essential raw materials, with a combined value exceeding Tk704 crore.
The approvals were made at the 27th meeting of the committee for 2026, held at the Cabinet Division in Dhaka on Wednesday, with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury presiding over the session.
According to officials, the committee gave clearance for the direct purchase of urea fertiliser worth Tk348.55 crore. The shipment will be supplied by Delta Star Trading FZ-LLC of the United Arab Emirates, through its Dhaka-based local agent Ibedita Trading.
In another decision, the committee approved the import of 25,000 metric tonnes of bulk granular urea fertiliser from SABIC Agri-Nutrients Company for the 2025-26 fiscal year. The contract for this procurement is valued at Tk185.13 crore, with the price set at US$630.83 per metric tonne.
The CCGP also approved the import of 15,000 metric tonnes of Bright Yellow Rock Sulphur for Triple Super Phosphate Complex Limited. The contract was awarded to Fabsco Construction Ltd., with a total cost of Tk171.01 crore and a unit price fixed at US$800 per metric tonne.
Officials said the imports are expected to help maintain a steady supply of fertilisers and key raw materials, which are essential for supporting agricultural production and industrial demand in the country.
A total of seven procurement proposals from different ministries were placed before the committee in the meeting, including those from the Road Transport and Highways Division, Local Government Division, and Energy and Mineral Resources Division.
