Bangladesh's remittance inflows rose 27.6 per cent year-on-year to US$1.94 billion in the first 19 days of July, providing an early boost to the country's foreign exchange reserves at the start of the 2026-27 fiscal year, according to the latest data from Bangladesh Bank.

The central bank said the country received US$1.52 billion in remittances during the same period last year.

On 19 July alone, Bangladeshi expatriates sent home US$140 million, reflecting the continued strength of remittance inflows.

Bangladesh Bank also revised the remittance figure for the three-day period between 16 and 18 July to US$166 million.

The strong performance is expected to support Bangladesh's foreign exchange reserves and reinforce overall macroeconomic stability during the opening weeks of the new fiscal year.
