Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva is visiting Argentina on Monday to conduct high-level discussions with President Javier Milei.
The visit comes as the Washington-based financial institution reviews progress under a four-year extended fund facility worth 20 billion dollars, agreed upon with the South American nation in 2025.
Official sources confirmed that the visiting international delegation will meet with Economy Minister Luis Caputo and Central Bank Director Santiago Bausili, as well as academic and commercial figures.
The itinerary includes a planned trip to Vaca Muerta, a major oil and gas extraction region located roughly 1,200 kilometres from Buenos Aires, which plays a pivotal role in national export revenues.
IMF spokesperson Julie Kozack stated that the visit offers an ideal moment to assess the advancement of economic reforms implemented by the current government.
