Gas supply pressure will remain reduced for a total of 24 hours across areas served by Titas Gas, as maintenance work is carried out at a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal, the state-run distributor has said.
In a statement issued on Friday morning, Titas Gas confirmed that consumers would experience low gas pressure from noon on Saturday until noon on Sunday. The disruption will affect all customer categories within the company’s distribution network, including residential, commercial, and industrial users.
The company said the temporary reduction in pressure is necessary to facilitate routine maintenance at the LNG terminal, a critical part of the country’s gas supply system. Officials did not specify the exact nature of the work but said it was essential to ensure long-term operational stability.
Titas Gas apologised to customers for the inconvenience, urging consumers to make necessary preparations during the affected period. The company added that normal pressure levels are expected to be restored once maintenance activities are completed as scheduled.
Bangladesh relies heavily on LNG imports to supplement domestic gas production, particularly during periods of high demand. Any disruption at the terminal level can have a noticeable impact on supply pressure, especially in densely populated urban areas.
Energy officials say regular maintenance is vital to preventing larger outages, even though short-term disruptions can cause inconvenience to consumers.
