The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Bangladesh has been increased once again, with the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announcing a Tk50 hike on a 12 kg cylinder for the month of February.
According to a BERC notification released on Monday afternoon, the new price of a 12 kg LPG cylinder will be Tk1,356, up from Tk1,306. The revised rate came into effect from 6pm on Monday.
BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed said the adjustment is part of the commission’s routine monthly review mechanism, which takes into account fluctuations in international energy markets, changes in production and import costs, and other relevant economic factors.
“The commission regularly monitors global LPG prices and adjusts domestic retail rates to reflect cost variations while ensuring market stability,” he said.
This is the second increase in LPG prices in 2026. On 4 January, the price of a 12 kg cylinder was raised by Tk53, bringing the cost to Tk1,306. The latest increase is aimed at aligning domestic rates with global market trends while maintaining supply efficiency for consumers.
In addition to LPG, BERC has also revised the price of autogas for February. The retail price of autogas, including VAT, has been raised by Tk2.34, bringing the new rate to Tk62.14 per litre. The last revision, on 4 January, saw autogas prices increase by Tk2.48 to Tk59.80 per litre.
The commission regularly reviews LPG and autogas prices on a monthly basis, considering factors such as international crude oil and LPG rates, currency exchange fluctuations, and transportation costs. BERC has stressed that these adjustments are necessary to ensure continued availability of LPG and autogas while balancing the interests of both consumers and suppliers.
Consumers are advised to note the revised rates and plan their purchases accordingly, while BERC assured that it will continue to monitor price trends and take steps to maintain market stability throughout the year.
