To ensure smooth and uninterrupted distribution of fuel across Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has set up dedicated monitoring and control cells at both central and regional levels. The move is aimed at maintaining proper fuel stock management and swiftly addressing any complaints related to fuel supply.

The initiative, announced in a press release signed by BPC Secretary Shahina Sultana on Monday, is designed to closely track stock levels, supply, and sales of petroleum products throughout the country.

The central monitoring cell has been established in Chattogram, while regional cells have been set up in Dhaka, Bogura, Khulna, Sylhet and Barishal to cover the country’s key areas.

These cells will operate in coordination with the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, BPC and relevant oil marketing companies.

Regional cells are tasked with reporting daily data on petroleum stocks, including both shore tank and floating reserves, dispatch of fuel, sales activity and retail diesel prices at regional depots.

The central cell will compile this information into consolidated reports and regularly share them with the Energy and Mineral Resources Division and other relevant ministries and agencies.

The system also ensures that district administrations receive updates on fuel deliveries from depots to dealers and agents, especially during periods of high demand such as the agricultural irrigation season.

The press release emphasised that any reports of irregularities in fuel distribution, storage, smuggling, or adulteration can be submitted directly to the relevant control cell. Verified complaints will trigger immediate action to maintain uninterrupted fuel availability nationwide.
