Fuel is currently being unloaded from six vessels stationed at the outer anchorage of Chattogram Port, carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), liquefied natural gas (LNG) and other petroleum products.
Member (Harbour and Marine) of the port authority Commodore Ahmed Amin Abdullah confirmed the matter on Wednesday.
Addressing reporters, Ahmed Amin Abdullah said that operations are progressing smoothly, with all six vessels being given priority berthing to facilitate rapid and efficient unloading.
“Our focus is to maintain uninterrupted fuel supply to meet national demand, and every measure has been taken to ensure the safety and security of the vessels while stationed at the outer anchorage,” he added.
Commodore Ahmed Amin Abdullah also highlighted that four additional fuel-laden vessels are currently on their way to Bangladesh.
According to the schedule, one of these vessels is expected to enter the port’s territorial waters later on Wednesday, while the remaining two ships are set to arrive on 12 March and 14 March, respectively.
The port authority has confirmed that all incoming ships will receive priority berthing upon arrival to ensure continuous operations. Security measures have been strengthened for the vessels at the outer anchorage, including monitoring and maritime safety protocols, to prevent any disruptions during unloading.
These steps are part of broader government efforts to stabilise fuel supply amid global energy uncertainties, ensuring that LPG, LNG and other petroleum products are efficiently delivered to the country’s depots and distributed to meet public demand.
