Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has decided to keep its main installations and depots open on government holidays, including Fridays and Saturdays, to ensure the uninterrupted supply of fuel across the country.
The decision was announced in an official notice issued on Thursday and signed by BPC Secretary Shahina Sultana. According to the statement, depots and primary facilities operated by BPC’s marketing companies will continue operating during weekly holidays so that the distribution of petroleum products remains stable and responsive to public demand.
The move comes as the authorities seek to safeguard fuel availability and prevent potential disruptions in the country’s energy supply chain. BPC said the measure has been taken in the public interest to maintain the normal flow of fuel across Bangladesh.
Officials noted that arrangements are already in place to sustain regular imports of petroleum products from abroad. Fuel shipments are being brought into the country according to scheduled procurement plans, ensuring that supply levels remain adequate to meet domestic consumption.
To facilitate nationwide distribution, petroleum products are also being transported from BPC’s main installations to depots across the country through rail waggons and tanker vehicles. Dealers have been instructed to continue dispatching fuel from central facilities to regional depots so that supply can be maintained without interruption.
BPC said the initiative has been implemented under the guidance of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, which has directed the corporation and its marketing companies to keep the distribution system active even during government holidays.
Energy officials believe that keeping depots open during weekends will help maintain steady fuel availability for transportation, industry and other key sectors, particularly at a time when energy supply management remains a priority for the government.
