Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Nigeria Miah Md Mainul Kabir held a meeting with Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas) Ekperikpe Ekpo to discuss prospects for expanding cooperation in the energy sector.

The meeting took place at the headquarters of Nigeria’s Ministry of Petroleum Resources, where the Bangladeshi envoy paid a courtesy call on the minister.

According to a statement shared by the Bangladesh High Commission in Abuja on Facebook, the discussion centred on strengthening bilateral ties and exploring new avenues of collaboration between the two countries.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on how Bangladesh and Nigeria could deepen their partnership in areas of common interest, particularly in the petroleum and natural gas sectors. The conversation also focused on ways to promote sustainable cooperation that would benefit both nations.

High Commissioner Mainul Kabir highlighted Bangladesh’s growing energy demand and expressed interest in enhancing engagement with Nigeria, which is one of Africa’s leading oil and gas producers.

He emphasised the importance of closer collaboration in energy development and knowledge sharing between the two countries.

Minister Ekperikpe Ekpo welcomed the discussion and reaffirmed Nigeria’s willingness to strengthen relations with Bangladesh.

He noted that there are opportunities for both countries to work together more closely in the energy sector, especially in areas related to gas development and energy resources.

The meeting reflected the shared commitment of Bangladesh and Nigeria to deepen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in strategic sectors. Both sides expressed optimism that continued dialogue and engagement would help open new opportunities for collaboration in the petroleum and gas industries.
