Fuel operations at Chattogram port are progressing smoothly as two additional fuel-laden vessels arrived, helping bolster the national supply chain.

The ships, ‘Chang Hang Hong Tu’ and ‘LPG Seven’, are currently discharging cargo.

‘Chang Hang Hong Tu’, carrying gas oil from Malaysia, reached the port on 15 March and is berthed at Bravo Mooring. About 5,000 metric tons have been unloaded so far, with full discharge expected by 19 March.

‘LPG Seven’, which arrived on 8 March from Oman with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), is anchored near the Kutubdia area. Around 7,020 metric tons have been discharged, and unloading is projected to finish by 20 March ahead of its scheduled departure on Friday.

Officials said a total of 28 fuel-carrying ships have recently called at the port, transporting LNG, LPG, crude oil, gas oil, high-sulphur fuel oil (HSFO), and base oil from countries including Qatar, UAE, Singapore, Malaysia, Oman and India.

Several more vessels carrying LNG, LPG, HSFO, and base oil are en route from Qatar, Australia, Singapore, Angola, Thailand, and Oman.

Chattogram Port Authority Secretary Refayat Hamim said all necessary measures are in place to ensure uninterrupted unloading and distribution, noting that the continued arrival of ships would stabilise the country’s fuel supply.
