Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan has warned of strict legal measures against any individuals or businesses attempting to create artificial fuel shortages during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.

The minister issued the warning after inspecting several petrol pumps in Rangamati on Thursday to assess the availability of fuel and ensure uninterrupted services for people travelling home for the holiday.

He assured that the country is not facing any fuel crisis at present and said authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent irregularities.

He also urged transport operators and passengers to promptly report any disruptions or misconduct through the national helpline 16107 or nearby police control rooms.

Dipen Dewan said law enforcement agencies, including police units, RAB teams and monitoring cells, are working round the clock to maintain discipline at fuel stations and transport hubs.

He emphasised that coordinated efforts by the government, transport owners and workers are underway to ensure a hassle-free Eid journey.

The minister also cautioned fuel station owners against exploiting the festive demand, urging them to act responsibly and avoid any practices that could inconvenience the public.

Senior officials, including members of the district administration and the minister’s personal staff, accompanied him during the inspection.
