Prime Minister Tarique Rahman convened a special governmental meeting on Wednesday morning to address the current Bangladesh fuel situation, prompted by escalating global oil prices linked to the ongoing Middle East conflict. The session, aimed at developing concrete policy measures for national energy security, was held at the Cabinet Division office within the Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka.

Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon confirmed that Tarique Rahman personally chaired the policy discussions. The morning meeting focused on evaluating domestic energy reserves, assessing supply chain vulnerabilities, and formulating strategic responses to shield the national fuel market from international price volatility.

Arriving at the Secretariat at 9:02 am, the prime minister attended to regular official duties before initiating the energy talks. During his morning schedule, he also unveiled a commemorative postage stamp marking the upcoming Independence and National Day.

Following the special energy session, Tarique Rahman is scheduled to chair a formal Cabinet meeting at 4:00 pm in the Cabinet Division conference room. Atikur Rahman Rumon noted that the Cabinet traditionally convenes on Thursdays; however, this week’s session was brought forward because Independence and National Day falls on Thursday.

This high-level intervention underscores the administration's immediate focus on energy policy and economic stability as global markets remain unpredictable.
