The government of Bangladesh has reassured citizens that fuel stocks across the country remain sufficient and that there is no disruption in supply, urging people to avoid panic buying or unnecessary stockpiling.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Energy and Mineral Resources Division said that the country is maintaining a steady supply of fuel by continuing imports from the international market in line with demand. Authorities emphasised that there is currently no risk of a shortage of petrol, octane, or diesel.
The statement, disseminated through the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, highlighted that rumours or misinformation about fuel scarcity should not be taken seriously. Officials stressed that the government has not raised fuel prices, and the supply chain remains stable.
At the same time, the authorities warned against the dangers of hoarding fuel. Petrol, octane, and diesel are highly flammable, and storing them in private or unsafe conditions can pose serious safety risks.
The government urged citizens to refrain from such practices for their own safety and that of others.
To curb illegal activities, law enforcement agencies and mobile courts are actively conducting drives across the country. Officials said strict measures are being taken against individuals and businesses involved in hoarding fuel to make unlawful profits. Executive magistrates are overseeing these operations to ensure compliance with regulations.
The government reiterated its commitment to maintaining uninterrupted fuel supply and called on the public to cooperate by purchasing fuel only as needed, helping to keep the distribution system smooth and efficient.
