The Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) has announced a major initiative to reduce its energy consumption by 50 per cent in response to the ongoing volatility in the global fuel market.

A press release issued by PKSF on Sunday stated that the new directive will apply to all officials, including the chairman and managing director (MD) of the organisation.

The move aims to ensure more responsible energy use and minimise reliance on fossil fuels during a period of global fuel supply uncertainty.

To implement the plan, PKSF has instructed all employees to prioritise public transportation for commuting both within Dhaka and for official work outside the capital. The foundation will also limit the use of office vehicles, encouraging energy-efficient alternatives whenever possible.

The initiative further emphasises careful use of electricity in office buildings, including restricted operation of air conditioners and other energy-intensive equipment. Officials are expected to follow strict guidelines to ensure electricity consumption is kept to a minimum without affecting essential administrative functions.

A PKSF spokesperson said the decision is part of a broader effort to promote sustainability and environmental responsibility while maintaining organisational efficiency.

“We aim to set an example for other institutions in adopting energy-saving measures during times of global fuel market instability,” the spokesperson added.

The foundation also called on staff members to actively participate in these energy-saving practices and contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally conscious workplace culture.
