Bangladesh currently has a total fuel stock of 1,92,919 tonnes, according to the Energy and Mineral Resources Division.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Secretariat on Tuesday, the division’s spokesperson and Joint Secretary (Operations) Monir Hossain Chowdhury provided a breakdown of the country’s available fuel reserves.

He said diesel accounts for the largest portion of the stock, with 1,28,939 tonnes in storage.

In addition, the country has 7,940 tonnes of octane and 11,431 tonnes of petrol, ensuring supply for transport and other essential sectors.

The reserve also includes 44,609 tonnes of jet fuel, which supports aviation operations.

Officials said the current stock level reflects ongoing efforts by the government to maintain a steady and reliable supply of fuel despite uncertainties in the global energy market.

uuThe Energy Division is closely monitoring both domestic demand and international developments to prevent any disruption in supply.

Monir Hossain Chowdhury emphasised that authorities are taking a proactive approach to energy management, including regular assessments of stock levels and supply chains. Necessary measures are also being taken to ensure that fuel reaches all parts of the country without interruption.

The government remains committed to maintaining energy stability and has continued its efforts to strengthen supply systems to meet growing demand across sectors, he added.
