Bangladesh's fuel supply is being reinforced as multiple fuel shipments, including refined octane and furnace oil, are set to arrive at Chattogram Port, ensuring stability amid global energy disruptions.

A vessel carrying around 26,000 tonnes of refined octane is scheduled to reach the outer anchorage of Chattogram Port from Malaysia on Wednesday. The shipment is being overseen by the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation, the state agency responsible for fuel imports and distribution.

Officials confirmed that the vessel, MT Central Star, flying the Marshall Islands flag, is expected to arrive within the day, marking a key step in maintaining domestic fuel supply.

In parallel, another vessel, MT Eastern Queens, carrying approximately 25,000 tonnes of furnace oil, is also due to arrive at the outer anchorage on the same day. The arrival of multiple shipments highlights ongoing efforts to secure energy supplies as global markets remain volatile.

Authorities said fuel import operations are continuing despite heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which have disrupted global energy supply chains and increased shipping risks.

Officials from the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation said efforts are ongoing to ensure uninterrupted fuel imports and maintain stable supply across the country.

In addition to liquid fuel imports, liquefied petroleum gas shipments are also being received. Two LPG carriers, Cool Voyager and Gas Journey, reached the outer anchorage of Chattogram Port on April 5, according to Chattogram Port Authority Secretary Syed Refayet Hamim.

The continued arrival of fuel shipments reflects Bangladesh’s strategy to diversify sourcing and maintain adequate reserves, as energy security remains a priority in the face of global uncertainty.
