A mobile court in Netrakona on Thursday seized a total of 3,100 litres of diesel illegally stored in two business establishments in Sadar Upazila.
The mobile court also fined the owners of the business establishments Tk40,000.
The fined shops are: Ms Shankar Saha Enterprise and Ms Rajib Traders.
It was known that on information, a team from the administration led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md Shamsuzzaman Asif conducted a drive in Thakurakona Bazar area at noon, and seized the illegally hoarded diesel.
Later on, a mobile court fined Ms Shankar Saha Enterprise and Ms Rajib Traders Tk20,000 each for storing the diesel without any authorisation.
The estimated market value of the seized fuel is Tk2.95 lakh.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md Shamsuzzaman Asif confirmed the drive, saying that such drives will continue across the district to curb illegal hoarding and ensure proper distribution of fuel.
A zero-tolerance policy is being followed against illegal fuel hoarding, he added.
Md Shamsuzzaman Asif also urged business owners to comply with existing regulations and warned that stricter actions, including higher fines and legal proceedings, may be taken against repeat offenders in the future
