The government has expanded the ‘Fuel Pass’ system nationwide by including private cars, in a move aimed at ensuring greater transparency, accountability and better management of fuel distribution across Bangladesh.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, the digital fuel monitoring system has now been extended beyond motorcycles to cover private vehicles as well.
“The government has expanded the ‘Fuel Pass’ facility by bringing private cars under the fuel pass app,” the statement said.
Officials said the decision is part of ongoing efforts to streamline fuel supply, prevent misuse and ensure that fuel is distributed in an orderly and verified manner through digital registration.
Under the new arrangement, private cars must be registered in the fuel pass system before receiving fuel from filling stations. In the initial phase, vehicles belonging to the ‘Ka’, ‘Kha’ and ‘Ga’ series have been opened for registration.
The ministry further said that registration for other vehicle categories will be introduced gradually in phases as the system is expanded and stabilised.
Authorities confirmed that all fuel stations in the capital will soon begin supplying fuel only to private cars registered under the fuel pass system. The initiative is expected to improve monitoring and reduce irregularities in fuel distribution.
Officials also noted that motorcycles have already been included in the system, and the addition of private cars marks a significant expansion of the digital fuel management programme.
The government said the move is intended to strengthen efficiency in fuel supply management while ensuring fair access and reducing administrative pressure on fuel distribution channels nationwide.
