Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood Tuku has said that renewable energy is essential for building a sustainable and modern power sector in Bangladesh.
Speaking at a programme organised by the Sustainable & Renewable Energy Solution Initiative at a hotel in Dhaka on Saturday, the minister said a stable, affordable and accountable energy system will play a crucial role in the country’s long-term development.
He emphasised the importance of long-term planning, transparency, and efficiency in the energy sector, adding that the involvement of globally recognised companies such as Lesso Solar and Zero Technology is both timely and significant for Bangladesh’s energy transition.
The event marked the formal entry of these companies into Bangladesh’s renewable energy market through Greenery Energy Solutions Limited, a subsidiary of Livenza Group. The firm will serve as the exclusive distributor of Lesso Solar and the sole national distributor for its solar products.
Speaking at the event, Jatiya Sangsad Whip M Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu called for stronger coordination among stakeholders to enhance energy security and support sustainable industrial development.
Managing Director of Greenery Energy Solutions Limited Sanzid Shahnoor said the company aims to contribute to a long-term transformation of Bangladesh’s energy landscape by combining decades of business experience with international technical expertise.
He added that the company’s focus is not only on supplying renewable energy products but also on helping industries and commercial sectors reduce electricity consumption through advanced technologies, improving both profitability and environmental performance.
Sanzid Shahnoor expressed optimism that solar power and smart HVAC systems would play a key role in boosting sustainability in Bangladesh’s garment and textile industries, which are major contributors to the national economy.
The programme highlighted growing interest in renewable energy solutions as Bangladesh seeks to diversify its power sources and reduce dependence on conventional fuels.
