The price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for the private sector has been kept unchanged for the month of May, according to a decision announced by the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) on Sunday.

Under the latest pricing structure, the cost of a 12kg LPG cylinder remains fixed at Tk1,940 at the consumer level. The revised rate took effect from 6pm on Sunday and will remain valid until further notice, as stated in the official press release issued by the commission.

The decision comes after a period of notable volatility in LPG prices during April. At the beginning of the month, on 2 April, the price was increased by Tk387, raising the cylinder rate to Tk1,728. Later, on 19 April, a further adjustment of Tk212 was made, which brought the current price to Tk1,940. The latest move to keep prices unchanged is seen as an effort to stabilise the domestic fuel market after these frequent fluctuations.

While the price of bottled LPG remains unchanged, BERC has made a minor revision in the price of Autogas. Including VAT, the per-litre price of Autogas has been increased by Tk0.02, setting the new rate at Tk89.52.

Officials indicated that the adjustment reflects routine market review mechanisms, while the overall decision aims to maintain stability in fuel pricing for consumers following a month of sharp changes.
