Prime Minister’s Adviser Mahdi Amin has said that Bangladesh’s energy sector is performing better than many other countries, with stable fuel supply and relatively controlled prices despite global market pressures.
He made the remarks on Wednesday while speaking at a seminar titled “Cooperation on Markets, Policy, Alignment, Security, and Sovereignty,” organised by the Institute of Strategy and Tactics Research at a hotel in Dhaka.
The adviser noted that Bangladesh has been able to maintain a stable energy supply in line with demand while keeping fuel prices under control. He said the country’s overall energy management remains comparatively strong even amid global volatility in fuel markets.
According to him, the government has managed to respond to external challenges by turning them into opportunities through consultations with both domestic and international stakeholders, alongside negotiations and diversification of energy sourcing.
Mahdi Amin said that despite global uncertainties, Bangladesh continues to move forward with a focus on stability and progress. He also added that the law-and-order situation in the country remains stable.
Emphasising policy direction, he stated that public welfare remains at the core of government decision-making. He said the administration is committed to ensuring national independence, sovereignty, and public interest while building a transparent and accountable governance system.
He further mentioned that the government led by Tarique Rahman is working to ensure prosperity and self-reliance for citizens and has already begun implementing election commitments shortly after coming to office.
The adviser also referred to ongoing discussions at the Deputy Commissioners’ Conference, where implementation of government policies at the field level is being reviewed.
Highlighting parliamentary activity, he described what he called a “vibrant Parliament,” noting active participation from both treasury and opposition benches. He said open debate and discussion are contributing to democratic practice in the country.
He stressed that continued emphasis on democracy, human rights, rule of law, and freedom of expression would shape Bangladesh’s future development trajectory.
