The registration process for the QR code-based Fuel Pass service for motorcyclists will remain temporarily suspended for five hours on Thursday due to maintenance work on the system’s server and storage infrastructure.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, the technical maintenance will be carried out by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) from 4pm to 9pm.
During this period, users will not be able to complete registration through the Fuel Pass mobile application.
Officials said the maintenance work is being conducted on an urgent basis to improve the quality, efficiency and reliability of the digital service.
The ministry also apologised for the temporary inconvenience caused to users and assured that the registration service would resume immediately after completion of the scheduled technical work.
The Fuel Pass system was introduced experimentally by the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) on 9 April as part of efforts to modernise fuel distribution and reduce congestion at filling stations.
Later, from 21 April, the digital Fuel Pass was made mandatory for motorcycle riders at selected fuel stations across Dhaka.
Authorities said the initiative aims to reduce long queues at petrol pumps, improve fuel management, and ensure greater transparency in fuel distribution through a QR code-based verification system.
