State Minister Amit visits Rampal power plant, reviews operations

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit on Sunday paid a surprise visit to the Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant of the Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL) in Rampal of Bagerhat, where he reviewed ongoing operations and held discussions with senior officials.

The state minister arrived at the plant around 11am. He was received by BIFPCL Managing Director Ramanath Pujari upon arrival.

Following the reception, Amit joined a view-sharing meeting with senior officials from different departments of the power plant. During the meeting, officials presented an overview of the plant’s operational activities, production status and management systems through a detailed presentation held at the administrative building conference room.

After the briefing session, the state minister inspected several key facilities of the plant, including the main control centre, coal shed, coal storage yard, jetty area and coal unloading operations. He reviewed the functioning of equipment and overall operational procedures during the visit.

Officials said the inspection was aimed at assessing the efficiency, safety standards and ongoing activities of the power generation facility.

A number of high-ranking officials were present at the programme. Among them were Bagerhat District Council Administrator Barrister Md Zakir Hossain, Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) Member Md Zahirul Islam, and Project Director Muha Alauddin.

Rampal Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tamanna Ferdousi also attended the event along with local political leaders, including District BNP Convener Engineer AT M Akram Hossain Talim and District BNP Member Secretary Muzaffar Rahman Alam, among others.

Officials from BIFPCL said the visit provided an opportunity to brief the state minister on the plant’s current performance and operational challenges, as well as ongoing efforts to ensure stable power generation.
