The government of Bangladesh has announced a reduction in the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for the month of June, offering a modest adjustment in domestic fuel costs.

According to a statement issued by the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) on Tuesday, the price of a 12-kilogram LPG cylinder has been lowered to Tk1,885, down from the previous rate of Tk1,940. The revised pricing will take effect from 6pm on Tuesday.

Alongside household LPG, the price of autogas used in vehicles has also been reduced. The new rate has been fixed at Tk86.93 per litre, compared to the earlier price of Tk89.50 per litre.

BERC said the updated rates reflect the latest adjustments in the international market and import costs, as Bangladesh remains fully dependent on imported LPG to meet domestic demand.

The announcement comes a few weeks after a price hike on 19 April, when the cost of a 12-kg cylinder was raised by Tk212, bringing it to Tk1,940. The latest revision slightly reverses that increase, though the overall price remains relatively high compared to earlier levels.

Industry observers note that LPG pricing in Bangladesh is closely tied to global petroleum trends, and fluctuations in international markets are directly passed on to consumers.

The commission’s periodic adjustments are aimed at aligning domestic prices with import costs while maintaining stability in the energy supply chain. With demand for LPG continuing to rise in households and transport sectors, such revisions are expected to continue in line with global market movements.
