The Power Division has called on consumers using prepaid electricity meters to update their meter tokens following the implementation of revised electricity tariffs.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the division said the update is essential to ensure that prepaid meters accurately reflect the new tariff structure and continue operating smoothly.

According to the notice, consumers whose prepaid meters require a token update of 200 digits or more should follow the guidance provided on the websites of their respective electricity distribution companies.

Officials said the update process is necessary to synchronise prepaid metering systems with the newly introduced electricity rates. Failure to complete the update may result in billing discrepancies or interruptions in service.

The Power Division also encouraged consumers experiencing difficulties during the update process to seek assistance from the customer support services of their relevant power distribution agencies.

For general support, consumers can contact the Power Division’s central customer service hotline by dialling 16999.

The customer service numbers for electricity distribution companies are: Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) – 16200, Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) – 16899, Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) – 16116, Dhaka Electric Supply Company (DESCO) – 16120, Northern Electricity Supply Company (NESCO) – 16603, and West Zone Power Distribution Company (WZPDCL) – 16117.

The division urged all affected consumers to complete the token update as soon as possible to avoid inconvenience and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply under the revised tariff system.

The move comes as authorities continue to adjust electricity billing systems to align with the latest pricing framework, making it important for prepaid meter users across the country to ensure their devices are updated promptly.
