Household energy costs are set to fall as the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announces a major price cut for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). Starting from this evening, 2 July, consumers will pay significantly less for their cooking gas.

According to the new government order, the price of a standard 12kg LPG cylinder has dropped by 357 Tk. The new price is now 1,528 Tk, down from the previous price of 1,885 Tk.

The commission also lowered the price of autogas, which many cars and taxis use. The price per litre has been dropped to 70.40 Tk, compared to the previous rate of 86.93 Tk.

These changes come after a smaller price reduction just last month, when the BERC adjusted the cost of a 12kg cylinder from 1,940 Tk down to 1,885 Tk.

The new, lower prices are effective immediately. Consumers are advised to check these official rates to ensure they are paying the correct price for their gas cylinders starting Thursday.
