Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited has announced a planned 16-hour suspension of gas supply in parts of Gazipur and Tangail on Tuesday as engineers carry out pipeline tie-in works.

In a public notice, the state-owned gas distributor said pipeline gas supply between Joydebpur in Gazipur and Kumudini in Tangail will remain suspended from 8:00am until 12:00am midnight on 7 July.

The temporary shutdown will affect industrial consumers, captive power plants and compressed natural gas (CNG) stations connected to the pipeline network in several areas under the Gazipur Division.

The affected locations include Joydebpur, Naojor, Itahata, Kodda, Konabari, Kashimpur, Mouchak, Shafipur, Chandra (Palli Bidyut), Kaliakair and Mirzapur.

Titas Gas also warned that customers living or operating in nearby areas may experience reduced gas pressure while the maintenance work is underway, even if they are not directly connected to the affected section of the network.

The company said, "The interruption is necessary to complete the pipeline connection works safely and efficiently. It apologised for the temporary disruption and thanked customers for their patience during the scheduled maintenance.”

The planned outage is expected to affect industrial operations and CNG services in the affected areas for the duration of the shutdown before normal gas supply is restored after the work is complete
