Gas supplies to parts of Narsingdi and surrounding areas will be temporarily suspended on Saturday as engineers carry out emergency repairs to a transmission pipeline damaged by an illegal gas connection, according to Titas Gas.
The state-owned gas distributor said, "The work is required to repair a leak detected in a 14-inch transmission pipeline at Amirganj in Raipura upazila.”
The damage has been linked to an unauthorised connection, prompting urgent maintenance to ensure the network's safety and reliability.
In an emergency notice, Titas Gas said, "Gas transmission along the Ashuganj-Narsingdi route will remain suspended from 2:00pm until midnight on Saturday while repair crews complete the work.”
The company also said that it is taking steps to minimise disruption for households, businesses and industrial consumers by supplying gas through alternative transmission lines wherever possible.
It added that it would make every effort to keep services operating as normally as conditions allow during the maintenance period.
Despite those arrangements, some customers in Narsingdi and nearby areas may experience interruptions or lower gas pressure while the repairs are under way.
Titas Gas said it expects to complete the repair operation within the scheduled shutdown period. Once the work has finished, gas supplies will be restored gradually as pressure across the transmission network returns to normal.
The company has apologised for the temporary inconvenience and said the emergency maintenance is necessary to address the pipeline leak and maintain the safe operation of the gas distribution system.
