A technical problem at a major floating gas terminal has caused a supply shortage, but efforts are underway to fix the problem and normal gas pressure should be restored soon.
Addressing a meeting at Jessore on Saturday, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit assured the public that gas supplies for power plants, factories, homes and CNG stations would soon be back to normal.
Anindya Islam Amit explained that Bangladesh depends on two floating terminals to convert imported Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) into gas for the national grid. This gas runs power plants, fuels factories, and supplies cooking gas to homes in major cities.
The current shortfall happened when one of these terminals experienced a technical glitch. Technical teams from a private company and state energy agency Petrobangla are now working together to repair the terminal, with the energy ministry monitoring progress.
Anindya Islam Amit confirmed that all necessary steps are being taken to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, expressing confidence that gas distribution will recover without long delays.
