After a series of high-octane action films such as Toofan, Borbaad, Taandob and Prince, superstar Shakib Khan is all set to explore a different cinematic persona with his upcoming film Rockstar.
The first look of the film was unveiled on Saturday morning, coinciding with Shakib Khan’s birthday on 28 March. The poster instantly went viral, amassing over 1,30,000 reactions on social media within just four hours.
In the new poster, Shakib is seen reclining on a street, donning black sunglasses, casual sneakers, and a relaxed outfit, while his arms display prominent tattoos. The film’s title ‘Rockstar’ looms in the backdrop, signalling a departure from his recent action-oriented image towards a more musical and stylised character.
Fans responded enthusiastically, leaving messages praising his transformation and sending heartfelt birthday wishes.
Directed by Azman Rusho, Rockstar has already begun filming in Malaysia. The director told the media that the film presents Shakib as a “trendy rockstar” capturing the contemporary vibe. “He’s a musician who writes and composes his own songs. This concept inspired the creation of the ‘Rockstar’ character,” he added.
The film is expected to feature Sabila Nur and Tanjia Zaman Mithila alongside Shakib Khan. The story is by Azman Rusho, with Nusrat Mati handling the screenplay, and dialogues written by Ayman Asib Swadhin and Samiul Bhuiyan. Rockstar is being produced under the banner of Sun Communication.
