The first look of Ramayana, one of India’s most ambitious film projects, is set to be released shortly, with growing anticipation around the epic adaptation directed by Nitesh Tiwari.
Ahead of the teaser launch, actor Alia Bhatt shared a video message urging audiences to support the film, which stars Ranbir Kapoor in a leading role.
In her message, she expressed excitement about the project and praised Kapoor’s performance, saying she was eager for audiences to see the film.
The film has generated significant attention due to its scale and production value. Producer Namit Malhotra said the project, which has been in development for several years, carries a combined budget of around $500 million for two parts, making it one of the most expensive film productions globally.
He described the film as an effort to present a globally recognised Indian epic on an international scale while maintaining efficiency in production.
The project also brings together two leading composers, AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer, marking a rare collaboration between Indian and international music talent.
Rahman said the score aims to balance familiarity with innovation, noting the challenge of presenting a widely known story in a way that resonates both in India and globally.
The film will be released in two parts, with the first instalment scheduled for October 2026 ahead of Diwali, followed by the second part in Diwali 2027.
Industry observers say the film reflects a growing trend of large-scale productions in Indian cinema, targeting global audiences with high-budget storytelling rooted in cultural narratives.
