Two celebrated names in Bangladesh’s music scene, Kangalini Sufia and Kanak Chapa, are set to receive special recognition at the 20th edition of the TMSS Channel-i Music Awards 2025.
According to organisers, the event will take place on 7 April at a grand programme on the open premises of a five-star hotel in Bogura.
This year, Kangalini Sufia will be presented with a special honour, while Kanak Chapa will receive the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her long and successful career.
Project Director Raju Alim confirmed the announcement, adding that awards will also be handed out in 18 different categories, celebrating excellence across the music industry.
Sharing her reaction, Kanak Chapa said the honour is both joyful and emotional for her. Over the years, she has given audiences countless popular songs and has made a strong mark as a playback singer in films. Her contribution to Bangla music has earned her multiple National Film Awards, further cementing her legacy.
Meanwhile, Kangalini Sufia remains a beloved figure in the country’s folk music. With her distinctive voice and emotionally rich songs, she has touched audiences for decades. Her iconic song “Buri Hoilam Tor Karone” continues to resonate with listeners, making her a timeless presence in Bangla folk music.
The upcoming awards ceremony is expected to celebrate not just their achievements, but also their lasting impact on the country’s musical heritage.
