‘Boipoka’ is one of the several dramas that were released during Eid-ul-Azha, and it has been praised by audiences for its social message and poignant narrative.
Topu Khan directed the play, which was written by Limon Ahmed and based on a narrative idea by Akbor Haider Munna. The on-screen relationship between Khairul Basar and Sadnima Binte Noman, who star in it, has garnered special praise from viewers.
The drama, which debuted on the Club 11 Entertainment YouTube channel on 2 June, has received over 900,000 views in only four days. Additionally, viewers have praised the film's plot, directing, and performances in abundance in the comments area.
‘Boipoka’ focuses on a romance narrative set against a familial setting while tackling current societal concerns, in contrast to many of the trend-driven humour films published during Eid.
Director Topu Khan said, “the drama highlights the negative effects of social media addiction and encourages younger generations to reconnect with literature and reading.”
“‘Boipoka’ explores the harmful impact of excessive social media use and the way it affects people’s lives. At the same time, it encourages the younger generation to become more interested in literature. While making the drama, I felt audiences would connect with it, and the feedback we’ve received has been very encouraging,” he said.
Story creator Akbor Haider Munna mentioned that the project was inspired by growing concerns about the influence of social media on modern relationships.
“People have become excessively obsessed with social media. It is affecting family and social relationships, while interest in books and literature is declining. Those concerns inspired the story. It’s gratifying to see audiences responding positively,” he said.
Khairul Basar described ‘Boipoka’ as a refreshing departure from conventional storytelling.
“It is a unique drama with dialogues that resonate deeply. I am grateful to Topu Bhai for creating a project like this,” he said.
Co-star Sadnima Binte Noman also expressed her enthusiasm for the project, saying the experience of working on the drama would remain memorable for a long time.
“I fell in love with my character while working on ‘Boipoka’. It was an exceptional experience,” she said.
The cast also includes Azizul Hakim, Munira Yusuf Memi, Abdullah Rana and Rosey Siddique. Veteran actor Tariq Anam Khan appears in a special role.
