A music concert featuring acclaimed singer-songwriter Anupam Roy in Dhaka has been postponed just one day before it was due to take place, organisers have confirmed.

The event, titled One True Sound, had been scheduled for 26 June at the United Convention Centre in the capital.

However, Yamaha Music Bangladesh announced on Thursday that the programme would not go ahead as planned following instructions from Bangladesh’s Ministry of Home Affairs.

In a statement, the organisers said all required approvals for the concert had been secured. Despite this, they were directed by the ministry to defer the event until further notice.

Organisers said efforts are underway to finalise a revised date and that an announcement is expected within the next 24 hours.

If a new schedule is not confirmed, ticket holders will be informed about the refund process and offered the opportunity to receive a full refund.

Anupam Roy, one of India’s most popular contemporary musicians, also confirmed the postponement. He said he had been formally informed of the decision by organisers on Thursday morning.

The concert was being jointly arranged by Yamaha Music Bangladesh and Triple Time Communications. Local music ensemble Bengal Symphony had also been scheduled to perform alongside the Indian artist.

The unexpected postponement has left many fans disappointed, particularly those who had been preparing to attend the highly anticipated performance.

Organisers have urged ticket holders to remain patient and follow official channels for updates regarding the rescheduled date and ticket arrangements.

No further details have been provided regarding the reasons behind the ministry’s directive.
