Flights halted due to fire in the cargo area at Dhaka airport; 36 firefighting units deployed

On Saturday afternoon, October 18, a fire broke out in the cargo area of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. The airport officials suspended flight operations, and the fire department sent 36 units to the spot.
At the time of reporting, twenty-eight units were attempting to put out the fire, while the remaining units were on their way to the airport.

Immediately after the incident, the airport’s fire section, the Bangladesh Air Force fire unit, and other relevant agencies rushed to the spot and jointly began efforts to bring the blaze under control.

According to the fire department, the information was received about 2:30pm.
According to Talha Bin Jashim, a fire service spokesman, the fire started in the cargo village at gate No.8 of the airport.
In a statement to the media, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the fire service, two air force fire units, and the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh are attempting to put out the fire.
Officials confirmed that flight operations at the airport had been temporarily halted due to the fire.
To find out what caused the incident, airport authorities have started an inquiry in cooperation with the incident Service and Civil Aviation Security personnel.
