Four more deaths were reported from dengue in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease to 251 this year.
During the period, 814 more patients were hospitalised with the viral fever, raising the total cases to 56,257 reported in 2025, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a statement Tuesday.
Breakdown of new infections shows that 170 cases were recorded in Dhaka North City Corporation, 107 in Dhaka South City Corporation and 124 in areas of Dhaka Division outside the city corporations.
In addition, 126 cases were reported in Barishal Division, 114 in Chattogram Division, 41 in Khulna Division, 46 in Mymensingh, 40 in Rajshahi, 41 in Rangpur and five in Sylhet; all outside their respective city corporations.
Although the current year’s death toll remains lower than previous years, concerns persist as the number of hospitalisations continues to rise.
In comparison, 575 people died of dengue in 2024, while 2023 marked the deadliest year on record with 1,705 fatalities.
