Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a fugitive accused in a 16 year old child rape case at Dobashi Bazar under Anwara Police Station on Thursday.
The arrested individual is Md Gias Uddin, 40, son of Abdus Salam, residing in Gahira Haria Para under Anwara upazila of Chattogram.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force raided the Dobashi Bazar area and arrested Gias Uddin.
Earlier, a case was filed against him with EPZ Police Station under Section 9(1) of the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act, 2000 (Amendment-2020).
He was later handed over to the concerned police station following legal procedures, sources added.
