A covered van driver was killed when his vehicle hit a roadside tree at Kalihati upazila in Tangail district on Monday.
The deceased was Rashed Mia, 30, son of Motaher Hossain of Saidpur Nauapara village in Nilphamari district.
The accident occurred on the west side of Kalihati Police Station when a covered van hit a banyan tree as its driver lost control over the steering of the vehicle, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Mahbub Hossain of Elenga Highway Police Outpost.
Covered van driver Rashed died on the spot, he said.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Tangail Sadar Hospital morgue.
