Seven banned-BCL men remanded in anti-terrorism case

A court in the capital on Wednesday remanded seven leaders and activists of the now-banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) for 10 days each in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The remanded individuals are: BCL central committee vice-president Rafikul Islam Badhon; Satkhira district BCL general secretary Md Sumon Hossain; and activists Mesbahul Islam, Saiful Islam Saif, Mostafizur Rahman, Sheikh Rasheduzzaman, and Mamun Sheikh.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Shahidul Islam issued the remand order.

According to the case documents, the accused gathered in Paltan, Dhaka, on October 31, 2025, allegedly to destabilize the country, chanting anti-state slogans. Following this, police filed the case with Paltan Police Station.
