Housing and Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan on Sunday said the youth force must be transformed into human resources to ensure sustainable development and build an inclusive Bangladesh.
“The main asset of Bangladesh is its young population. Youth must be trained and skilled through education and training to transform challenges into opportunities through skills and innovation,” he said.
The adviser made these remarks while addressing the inaugural ceremony of IDEB’s (Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh) 55th founding anniversary and Public Engineering Day at IDEB Bhaban in the city’s Kakrail.
Adilur stated that it is necessary to have principles and honesty along with efficiency for sustainable development. The development plan will not be sustainable if the integrity and patriotism of the skilled people are lacking, he added.
He said engineers should not just perform prescribed work, but should focus on research and innovation to meet current and future challenges.
IDEB central convener Engineer Md Kabir Hossain presided over the meeting, while member secretary Kazi Sakhawat Hossain gave the welcome address.
After the discussion, the adviser inaugurated a colourful rally by releasing pigeons and balloons on the IDEB building premises. Later, the rally paraded through different streets of the city.
